Toilet paper roll crafts Christmas tree

We had so much fun doing our Halloween toilet paper roll crafts, and I knew that we needed to do something fun for Christmas.  I really wanted to make Christmas trees from toilet paper roll crafts, and after a few variations, I love how it turned out!!  The kids LOVED doing these too.

Materials Needed:
Toilet Paper Rolls
Paint
Wooden Star
Table confetti (similar to mine are these)
Tiny Pom-Poms
Ribbon
Other fun crafting items
Hot glue gun/sticks
scissors

You’ll just start by painting your toilet paper rolls.  Make sure to let them dry all the way.  It’s really hard to cut into them if the paint is even slightly wet still.  I may or may not know that from experience.

While the rolls were drying, the kids also painted their stars.  Obviously there are TONS of things you could use for stars.  We happen to have these, and I love the variety of texture that they add.Toilet paper roll crafts Christmas tree 1

Once your rolls have dried (ALL THE WAY!!), take a marker, and draw your lines on like so.  You’ll be cutting along all the lines, but you want them close like that on the side.

It should look like that when you’re cutting.

Ah!  I love these.  When I painted mine, I left the bottom unpainted for the tree trunk.  I love how kids just do their own thing and make it theirs.  🙂

Glued the stars on and the gems on (again, had those around randomly too.  I think pom-poms would be super adorable).  I had the kids tell me where they wanted the gems even though I glued them on with the glue gun.  You could just put these on your mantel how they are … or do more.

I decided I wanted to make them ornaments.  I took a hole punch and made sure to do it low enough that it wasn’t going to rip through the top.

Grabbed some yarn (because I never have ribbon around, and I obviously have a lot of yarn), and pulled it through.  I tied it in a double knot, then I moved it around so the knot was inside the tree and unseen.

I took a marker and add the year, and each of the kids names just inside by the “trunk” of their tree.
