Date night in …

August 17, 2015

Dinner and a movie is such a clique date night isn’t it?  For us, going on a date, even if the actual activity is totally free, is still so expensive once we figure in paying the babysitter.  One of our favorite date nights is to get a movie, pick up dinner from one of our favorite local restaurants and bring it home and watch a movie and enjoy dinner at home, once the kids are in bed.

Recently we took an evening and watched Freetown.  Have you heard of this movie?  It’s incredible.  Here is the synopsis:
Caught in the middle of a brutal civil war, six Liberian missionaries in Monrovia flee the widespread violence in their native country. Their destination: Freetown, Sierra Leone. With the help of local church member Phillip Abubakar (Henry Adofo), the missionaries make the difficult journey, only to have their troubles compounded by a rebel fighter bent on killing one of their own. Based on incredible true events, FREETOWN is a thrilling and inspiring story of faith, hope and survival.

Freetown DVD

The faith that these 6 missionary show along with their driver and friend is incredible.  I’m always amazed when I see movies like this where it’s based on a true story and to see these people go through something with such grace and such faith is always building for me in my life.  We all have hard things that we go through, and its’ a great reminder to have faith, and move forward towards our goals and to our desires, and we will be blessed, and we will be lead to the end where we need to be.

I’m so excited to be giving away TWO copies of Freetown.  So enter below for the chance to win you own DVD and see and own this amazing movie.

Right now fishing is my ideal date night. Last few times I’ve been out on the boat I’ve had a toddler with me. I’d love to go enjoy some childfree time on the water with my husband.

A favorite date night for us is fondue and a card game — usually Gin Rummy or Go Fish, because you don’t have to think too hard to enjoy them. “Freetown” is a powerful movie. I saw it with a friend when it was in the theaters and it would be great to see again with my family. It really makes you appreciate faith and freedom. You don’t realize how hard day-to-day living is in other countries.
