Meet the Mormons

November 4, 2014

As a quick intro, this post in in no way sponsored.  I just wanted to share my thoughts and feelings about this.  It’s been on my mind, so I share.  🙂

A little while ago, my husband and I had the opportunity to see the new movie Meet the Mormons.  I had seen the trailer for it several times, but was still unsure what to expect.  I was actually really surprised after it all finished how much I just LOVED the movie.  I didn’t love it because I’m a Mormon, but because of the way I felt when it was done, because of the joy that penetrated throughout the movie.

The stories of these people doesn’t show that they had perfect lives, or are perfect people – it shows that Mormons come with all sorts of backgrounds, talents, heartache, just like everyone else.  As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I know that I am not immune to heartache, or hardships.  I am not perfect.  None of the people in the movie are either.  I felt like I was re-learning that we all have a different purpose, we all have something different to contribute to each other while we’re there.

This movie is not a movie that will preach to you about becoming a member of our church.  It is not trying to convert anyone.  It is just showing various situations that members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints have been in, circumstances that they’ve been in, or are in.

I recently downloaded the son Glorious that David Archuleta sings in the movie, as I sat and listened to the song, I was shocked by how powerful they were to me. How closely they touched my heart.  I long to really know what I can do to make a difference to others in my life.  I valium feel so much that there is more for me to do than I am doing, but I just haven’t quite figured out what it is.  I have times where my desire to understand and know are bursting – and I feel like that is exactly what this songs starts off saying.  As I listen to this song, I feel like it’s giving me hope that I really will figure it out.  I’ll be able to be the mother, and the wife, and the friend, and the person that I know is inside me.  I just have to find that missing piece that I know is there to know my part a little bit better.

I know that each of us really does have a part to play within our own lives. A part that is specific, important, and worth trying each day to be better so we can achieve becoming that person that we have within us.  I know that if we strive to help each other in positive ways we can all become better people.  It’s not easy – in fact, life is hard.  If we are doing our best and trying to be better each day, it won’t matter that it’s hard, because we’ll be able to share in our hardships, and in our struggles, and in our happiness, and in our celebrations with those we come in contact with.

I hope you’ll take the time to find this movie close to you.  I hope you’ll take a little bit of your time to see it.  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is donating 100% of the money they would have gotten to The American Red Cross – so seeing the movie becomes a good cause as well.

Let me know if you check it out and what you thought!  I’d love to know.
